Being short of time, I had to dive straight into Sorrows and was a little lost for the first 100 pages or so. If you liked Heaven and Hell, there's a good chance you'll enjoy Sorrows, too. The second book is almost like a mirror image of its predecessor - it starts slowly and then picks up the pace as the boy embarks upon another unforgettable journey. I assume from your enthusiasm that you recommend continuing past this one.seraillonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17654593356535433945noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2609668304633418767.post-13415357642343012712015-07-10T11:51:47.881-07:002015-07-10T11:51:47.881-07:00In the spirit of investigating your back catalogue...In the spirit of investigating your back catalogue, I've just stumbled upon this review. It's beautiful, wonderfully evocative, just like Stefansson's novel itself. I love how you've described the book as having "an intimacy and muffled resonance like the sound of one’s own footsteps walking through fresh snow". That's a perfect description. There's something ethereal about this story, a sort of ghostly quality that's hard to articulate. I found it an immersive reading experience and it's lovely to relive it through your review.

Have you read the other two in the series, The Sorrow of Angels and The Heart of Man? I've read Sorrows, but your post reminds me that I must track down a copy of the final instalment in the series. JacquiWinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16220597283351925721noreply@blogger.com
